Event: We are very grateful to Scotland House Brussels for organizing an Open Session on the 24th of March 2025, where we could present our study, ‘Voices from the Horizon: Third Countries’ Experiences Guiding the Design of FP10′, and share its results with the public, including government officials, EU Member States and Third Country scientific councillors, industry representatives, and university members. The presentation was followed by an engaging discussion moderated by Gregg Jones, Director of the Coventry University Brussels Hub (Europe). The event concluded with an opportunity to network with the participants. We’d like to thank everyone who joined us and engaged in a constructive debate about ways to improve the association process and create better conditions for international collaboration in research and innovation.


Dialogue: On March 24, 2025, at Scotland House Brussels, we had the privilege of meeting with representatives from the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Research & Innovation. We presented our report, ‘Voices from the Horizon: Third Countries’ Experiences Guiding the Design of FP10′, and engaged in a stimulating discussion about our recommendations. The conversation was insightful, focusing on ways to enhance the association process and participation in Framework Programmes. We’d like to thank the members of the European Commission for the engaging conversation and Scotland House Europe for organizing this valuable opportunity.


Dialogue: March 24, 2025, marked a significant day at Scotland House Brussels. We had the opportunity to engage with members from Third Countries, including Canada, Japan, Montenegro, Switzerland, Türkiye, and United Kingdom, and delve into the insights from our report, ‘Voices from the Horizon: Third Countries’ Experiences Guiding the Design of FP10′. It was gratifying to see our findings resonate with the attendees and to receive such a warm reception for our report. We’d like to thank the members of the Third Countries for the constructive discussion and Scotland House Europe for organizing this valuable opportunity.


Event: On the 24th of March 2025, we received a wonderful welcome at Scotland House Brussels and had the pleasure of meeting the team. We shared findings from our report, ‘Voices from the Horizon: Third Countries’ Experiences Guiding the Design of FP10‘, with members of Scotland Europa and the Scottish Government in Brussels. We’d like to thank Scotland Europa and the Scottish Government in Brussels for their kindness and hospitality and all the support we received from them.


Event: On the 13th of March 2025, Rachel gave a sneak peek into our report, ‘Voices from the Horizon: Third Countries Experiences Guiding the Design of FP10‘, at the latest Scotland Europa Members’ Meeting in Glasgow during a panel session titled ‘From Competitiveness to Collaboration: Scotland’s Engagement in an Evolving EU and International Context’.

Hosted by SURGE – Scotland Europa’s Universities and Research Group in Europe – in this session you can find out more about our exciting research project which looks to explore in new detail what it is like for a non-EU country to associate to Horizon Europe. 

This online session will be the first time the results of the project are shared publicly. The session is open to SURGE members and all interested stakeholders. It is part of a wider set of activities in Scotland and Brussels to promote the project findings. Invitation: Voices from the Horizon – Panel contribution – Thursday 13 March 2025 in Glasgow

We’ll be part of a panel ‘From Competitiveness to Collaboration: Where is EU innovation policy heading?’  at the University of Glasgow. This panel is as part of a deeper conversation about how the top-level EU developments may affect innovation in Scotland and our international activity, particularly the impact of a greater focus on competitiveness and economic security on EU innovation policy.
